CHINTPURNI TEMPLE is one of the ancient temples which is situated in the Una district of Himachal Pradesh. This Temple is also known as a Chhinnamastika Dhaam. Chintpurni Devi is regarded as the Goddess who takes all the worries of her devotees. Chintpurni Temple is one of the 51 shakti peethas in India. This is the place where Sati’s feet fell due to Lord Shiva’s tandava dance.

It is believed that if one wishes something from the Devi with an honest heart, the wish is granted. This temple was formed by Sarswat Brahman, Bhai Mai Das. The descendants of the Bhai Mai das family still offer prayers in this temple. In the center of this temple, there is the temple of Garbha Griha. At every corner of the Temple, there is a temple of Lord Shiva. In the temple, the image of Mata Chintpurni is placed in the form of Pindi (a round stone). During the time of Navratras, people from far and near visit here to seek the blessings of Mata Chintpurni Devi.

Offerings Prayers

Devotees or Pilgrims usually bring offerings for the Devi like Fruits, coconuts, sweets like Suji Halwa, Ladoo, Barfi, Kheer (sugar-coated puffed rice), Flowers, Ghee, Chunni, Sindoor and many more which shows the faith of devotees for Devi.

Best time to visit Chintpurni Temple

During summer season temperature ranges from 15 degrees to 22 degrees which remains pleasant. During winter season temperature ranges from -5 degrees to 20 degrees. The temperature remains cool and woolen clothes or jackets are preferred to go to Chintpurni temple. During Monsoon season view of rainfalls can be seen.

The festivals are celebrated with great joy in the Chintpurni temple. You can see the colorful markets during the festive seasons. Here you can see the sense of unity and feeling of brotherhood among devotees. Various festivals like Lohri, Holi, Diwali or Navratra are celebrated with great delights and religious sentiments.

In this local market you can buy some spiritual and holy books, images of God and religious DVDs.  


Chintpurni Temple is very well connected with the roads and railways.


The nearest bus stand is the Chintpurni Bus stand. You can find buses easily from major cities to Chintpurni Temple. Normally people take a bus from Hoshiarpur Bus stand for Chintpurni Temple.


You can get a train to Amb Andaura on a regular basis. Amb Andaura railway station is the nearest railway station to Chintpurni which is 16 km far from the temple.


The nearest airport is Gaggal airport, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh which is 65-70 km far from the temple.  Private vehicles are usually not allowed beyond the Chintpurni bus stand which is about 1.5 km from the temple. Devotees need to walk this distance through a busy market.
