Charminar, Hyderabad is in the list of World Heritage sites of UNESCO. It is a tourist spot that reflects Hindu-Islamic architecture. This is a monument and mosque that is situated in Hyderabad, Telangana. It was built by the fifth Sultan of Qutb Shahi dynasty, Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah in the year 1591 to commemorate the end of a deadly plague menace. The ruler Sultan prayed at a particular spot for the plague to end and when it was eradicated, at that very place where he offered his prayers, the Charminar was built.

Charminar is a combination of two words i.e. Char which means “four” and Minar which means “pillars”. A visit to a Hyderabad is incomplete without visiting this monument Charminar. There Is a mosque inside the Charminar with 45 prayer spaces. It is located on the western side of the roof. The eastern part served as the court at the time of Sultan Qutb Shah. You may found a crowd during Friday prayer which is called Jummah in Islamic Language.

Best Time To Visit Charminar Hyderabad

The best time to visit Charminar (Hyderabad) or the entire Hyderabad city is in the months between October to March i.e. in the winter season. In winter season the weather is so pleasant in Hyderabad unlike Delhi or other North Indian cities. Charminar opens till 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM on all days.

How To Reach Charminar

By Road

Charminar is well connected by road from all parts of the city. You can easily take TSRTC buses (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation) and autos to go to Charminar. Charminar Bus stop is the nearest bus stop to Charminar near the Mecca Mosque. You can take the bus from the Hyderabad bus stand to reach the Charminar Bus stop which is 5-6 KM far away. Make sure if you opt Auto to reach Charminar, the auto-drivers may demand excess fares. It is better to negotiate with them as per your convenience.

By Train

Nampally Railway Station is the nearest Railway Station to Charminar at the distance of 6 KM. You can take a Taxi (Uber Or Ola), auto or bus to reach Charminar.

If you want to go to Charminar by Metro Train then MGBs Metro Station (2-3 KM) and Osmania Medical College Metro Station (3-4 KM) are two nearest metro stations. From there you can hire a taxi, bus or auto as per your convenience.

By Air

Hyderabad Airport is the nearest airport to Charminar at a distance of 20 KM. Many APSRTC buses are available outside the airport to take you to the Charminar.

Laad Bazaar is located near Charminar. It is also known as Choodi Baazar. In this bazaar appearance of tourist are more than the local people. MECCA MASJID

This is a historic masjid built partly with bricks made from soil brought from the holy city of Mecca. Mohammad Quli Qutub Shah, founder of the Hyderabad personally laid the foundation stone and planned the city around this mosque. It is believed that there is a presence of Prophet Muhammad’s hair in one of the rooms in the Mosque. The distance between Charminar and Mecca Mosque is 200 meters approx.

Timings of the Mosque: Open every day from 4:00 AM to 9:30 PM.

Note: Tourists are not allowed during prayers.

TAHNIYAT MAHAL

Tahniyat mahal is a palace made by Nizam. Inside the Tahniyat Mahal, there is a painting that shows the culture of Hyderabad. The entire architecture of the palace is supported by huge pillars. It is hardly 1 KM far from Charminar. You can go via a walk from Charminar to Tanhiyat Mahal. In this way, you can enjoy the market of Charminar.
